Madeira mahogany Classical guitar neck. Quarter / Riffle / Flat sawn with tight and straight grain. Air dried for over than 260 years. Madeira mahogany is an extremely rare wood, only grows in the Madeira, Azores and Canary islands. It was largely used during the past centuries in deluxe furniture it is also known as Vinhatico. Definitely a great wood for necks with great acoustic properties. There’s some history behind this wonderful Madeira mahogany, it was salvaged from the original Marquês de Pombal wine barrels. After the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, Marquês de Pombal after rebuilding Lisbon he took care of the winery that he gave his own name, where the famous “Carcavelos Wine” is made until today.
